The Texts

The texts:

These are the nine texts set to music in Eighteen Echoes. All of the translations are by Sara Snyder Hopkins and Tom Belt, except for the “Letter to My Mother”, which is used by permission of the DAILP.

These recordings feature the Lebanon Valley College Chamber Choir with (mostly) digital temporary accompaniment. Eventually, we will record these pieces with a live orchestra. If you would like to add your voice to these recordings, send us a note and we will help you get started.

1938 — Love Letter No. 1

Literary translation:

Beloved, don’t leave me alone/forget me.  Beloved, this is what I am thinking: send me letters for me to read your thinking.  Could you send my dresses I will be looking for?
